The Confederate musketball that took the arm of Charles Sprauge during Pickett’s Charge Gettysburg. This ball crashed into the arm of Sprauge while he was manning the cannon Alonzo Cushing was commanding. Sprauge was in Battery A 4th U.S. Artillery. Sprauge was taken to the hospital and the ball was removed and he kept the ball. Later his arm became infected and had to be amputated. Alonzo Cushing, his commander received the Medal of Honor. Cushing kept fighting even with his intestines coming out from wounds. Cushing later died of his wounds. Battery A kept fighting pouring double canister into the advancing Confederates at the bloody angle of Pickett’s Charge.
