# Gettysburg Museum of History

> A free, privately funded history museum at 219 Baltimore St in downtown Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, with over 4,000 artifacts from the American Civil War, World War I, World War II, U.S. presidencies and pop culture. The museum also buys and sells authentic historical artifacts, and offers museum documentation on every artifact and relic it sells: each buyer receives a document verifying the item's authenticity.

The museum was founded by its curator, Erik L. Dorr, whose family has lived in Gettysburg since 1818. It is not funded by government grants: it is operated on visitor donations and stays free by buying and selling historical artifacts. It is the home of the Major Dick Winters Collection (Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Band of Brothers).
