Outstanding Very Nice Original WWII German Army Cavalry Major’s M36 Tunic Uniform Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. The Officerโ€™s service tunic followed the basic design of the EM/NCOโ€™s field blouse with the most readily visible difference, besides the insignia, being the turned up French cuffs. Officers and certain senior NCO ranks were responsible for purchasing their own uniforms and as a result were allotted a clothing allowance through the armyโ€™s Kleiderkasse, (Clothing Account), system. The Officers and certain senior NCOโ€™s could choose to purchase their uniforms from the armed forces clothing depots or to privately purchase garments of higher quality. Although enlisted personnel were issued their uniforms from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored uniforms although the price may have been restrictive. Nice quality, private purchase, field-grey, wool/rayon blend construction tunic features a vertical, six button front closure with dual metal hooks and eyes positioned at the forward neckline. Nice “4” cyphers to the shoulder boards. The “4” indicated, 4th Cavalry Regiment. Cavalry officer collar tabs, shoulder boards and officerโ€™s breast eagle all look to be original period stitching. Buttons again all look original to the tunic. Award loops for one breast badge and one ribbon bar.ย  The tunic is roughly a size 36″ chest. Very nice early style pillowed interior lining.
