Original Early German Hitler Youth Belt Buckle Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. The Hitler Youth may be traced back to March of 1922, with the formation of the “Jugendbund der NSDAP” (Youth-league of-the NSDAP), under control of the SA. In April of 1924 the “Jugendbund der NSDAP” was renamed “Grossdeutsche Jugendbewegung” (Greater-german Youth-movement), and in July of 1926 the “Grossdeutsche Jugendbewegung” was officially renamed “Hitlerjugend Bund der deutschen Arbeiterjugend” (Hitler-youth League of-the german Worker-youth). Prior to 1925, an assortment of uniform items were worn by “Hitler Jugend” members, mainly consisting of a white shirt and HJ armband. In an attempt to associate themselves more closely with the Nazi Party, the HJ adopted the NSDAP brown shirt in 1925. Their distinctive belt buckle was introduced in 1933. Die struck steel buckle with a nickle silver wash. The buckle features an embossed HJ style national eagle, with down-swept wings, clutching an HJ diamond to the center on a slightly pebbled background field. The eagle is encompassed by a circular ribbed background border with a simulated twisted rope trim to both the inner and outer edges. The circular border has embossed Gothic scripted HJ motto to top, “Blut und Ehre”, (Blood and Honor).The reverse of the buckle is a mirror image of the obverse. The reverse has a  buckle catch, and the prong bar and prongs are all intact.  RZM marked and maker code M4/38. A nice looking piece! Nice used  example showing minimal age and wear. Some use wear.
