Original WWII German Rail Road Eagle With Deutsche Reichsbahn Plaque Removed From A Train Car By A U.S. Veteran Certified. This 24-inch Railway Eagle has a beautiful shiny patina and unlike many of the 600mm (24 inch) eagles, this one has been used and still has three of the original bolts that were used to bolt the eagle to the train. This is marked on the reverse. – Gal-Mg-Si is an indication of the aluminum allow that was used (Gal=Galvanized Aluminum, Mg=Magnesium, Si=Silicon). – The V is most likely the maker’s mark. It is not confirmed but believed that it may stand for Vereinigte Aluminiumwerke AG which was a massive Aluminum foundry/smelting company. – LOK indicates this is meant for a locomotive. The top of the eagles head and wings have typical hand tooling marks. This is a used example or a rare maker in great condition with the often missing studs. Also Included is a very rare metal Deutsche Reichsbahn train plaque. These were mounted above a railroad eagle on the side of WWII German trains. This railroad sign is extremely rare and an alloy metal painted black with raised brushed metal lettering which says “Deutsche Reichsbahn”. It is jut over 23.5 inches long and 3.2 inches high. Train eagles were ordered to be removed in 1945 by the Allies to “de-nazify” them but Deutsche Reichsbahn plaques in most cases could remain on the trains making this a VERY RARE set! This is a “one looker” as we say! Some wear from use otherwise in good condition with minor storage wear (see photos). Rare! A rare U.S. Veteran bring back. 100% guaranteed to be authentic. Gettysburg Museum Certified (COA) provided. Please see our other items on our web site. DON’T MISS THIS! One of the truly desirable Third Reich Artifacts!
