Original WWII Japanese Officer’s Sword (Tanto) Brought Home By A U.S. Soldier Certified. A small “suicide sword” called a Tanto. Fair condition to exterior.ย  fair condition blade. ย Overall length is approximately 16 inches. ย Blade length is approximately 11 inches, Grip is approximately 4 1/4 inches. ย This is a tanto style.ย  looks like this was a hand forged blade. ย The fittings and assembly are late 19th to early 20 Century vintage. ย There is light damage to the blade and was sharpened. The grip top is loose and detached.ย  ย  The silk under the string wrap is indicative of this tanto being intended for use.
