Original WWII German VERY RARE Association Cultural Relations Abroad Armband Certified. Nearly every military, civil, political and paramilitary organization in existence during the Third Reich used armbands. Armbands were worn on military and civilian uniforms and also on civilian clothes, from suit jackets to work clothing. They were used to denote membership in organizations, to indicate a specific role or function of the bearer, and as insignia of rank. Many organizations would change the design of their armbands over time, which added to the variety produced. These were manufactured in countless variations, ranging from simple printed bands to elaborately hand-embroidered pieces of the highest quality. Some Nazi armbands were worn by all members of large organizations and were made by the millions. Others were intended for use at a specific time and place and were unique. Many types were made in very limited numbers. Some bore metal insignia or special identifiers that indicated the wearerโ€™s rank, unit affiliation, or nationality. Armbands were sometimes but not always marked with ink stamps by the issuing authorities. The German Association Cultural Relations Abroad Armband is an attractive insignia item, from an interesting Nazi organization. The โ€œVolksbund fรผr das Deutschtum im Auslandโ€ was ostensibly intended to preserve German culture among ethnic Germans living in other countries, and to participate in charity work. In the reality of war, the VDA was engaged in collecting intelligence in other countries, where its members resided. Members of the VDA also took part in other activities together with Nazi paramilitary and military units, in the occupied areas. This German Association Cultural Relations Abroad Armband is made of a finely woven and fairly soft white fabric. The entire field of the armband is printed with blue ink; the unprinted portion of the armband makes up the lettering โ€œV.D.Aโ€ in a typical German style, flanked on either side with large Nazi swastika emblems. The armband has a few match head sized moth nips on both sides, but retains bright original color. It is machine sewn together in the back, and remains ย In good worn condition some mild storage wear , good colors. Uniform removed.
