Original WWII German NSDAP (NAZI PARTY) RLB OFFICER’S Armband Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. Formed in late 1932 the Deutscher Luftschutzverband (German Air Protection League), was a voluntary organization designed to provide civil air raid protection in large civilian centers. Shortly after Hitler ascension to power the Deutscher Luftschutzverband was restructured and placed under the supervision of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium, (National Ministry of Aviation), under the control of Hermann Göring. On April 29TH 1933 the Deutscher Luftschutzverband was renamed RLB, Reichs Luftschutz Bund, (National Air Raid Protection League), and was given status as an official, national, organization tasked with all aspects of civil air raid defence. The RLB remained a voluntary organization with a small cadre of paid, full-time, uniformed, officials to oversee the organizations functions until June 1935 when obligatory service was introduced.  a very nice example of the scarce RLB Officer Armband, for leaders in the Reich air raid defense organization. It’s made with Bevo machine woven construction, with the VERY early, first pattern RLB organizational emblem (the initials RLB on a starburst, with a Nazi swastika emblem) very neatly executed on a dark  blue band of  fabric. The upper and lower edges of the armband are adorned with white cotton Tresse, indicating an armband for a member of the RLB in a leadership position. The ends of this RLB Officer Armband are sewn together on the reverse.  This armband is in excellent condition (almost mint), with no holes or stains, and only very light toning to the light blue fabric, from the passing of time.
