Original WWII German Luftwaffe (Airforce) Enlisted/NCO M43 TRAPEZOID CAP INSIGNIA. (Mützen Abzeichen) Certified. The Luftwaffe pattern national eagle was originally introduced for wear by Fliegerschaft, (Pilot Base), personnel of the DLV, Deutscher Luftsportsverband, (German Air Sports Association), the clandestine, civilian, forerunner of the Luftwaffe on August 18TH 1934 and was officially adopted for wear by all Luftwaffe personnel on March 1ST 1935. The original first pattern national eagle was utilized until a slightly modified, second pattern national eagle was introduced in late 1936 or early 1937. Regulations dictated that the national eagle was to be worn on almost all headgear and on the right breast of almost all uniforms with a few minor exceptions. Officer’s ranks generally utilized hand embroidered national eagles as opposed to the machine embroidered breast and cap eagles or stamped metal visor cap eagles as utilized by EM/NCO ranks. The Weimar Reichswehr era oval black, red and gold cockade was replaced with a circular cockade in black, white, and red on March 14TH 1933 and was utilized through-out the Third Reich period. In May 1943 a new configuration of cap insignia with the national eagle and tri-color cockade on a single trapezoidal base was introduced for wear on the M43 field caps. Machine embroidered, second pattern, (Circa 1937/38-1945), Luftwaffe eagle with out-stretched wings, clutching a canted, swastika in one talon, in silvery/grey, cotton threads positioned above a national tri-color cockade in black, red and white cotton threads on a Luftwaffe blue/grey trapezoidal wool base. In used but good condition. 100% guaranteed to be authentic. Complete museum documentation (COA) Provided. Certified by The Gettysburg Museum of History.
