Original WWII German Infantry Assault Badge In Sliver Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. The Infantry Assault Badge in silver was introduced on December 20TH 1939 by Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch, for award to Officers, and EM/NCO’s of non-motorized, Infantry and Mountain Infantry units. Criteria for the award varied, with the main qualification being participation in three separate Infantry assaults. Of Note: On June 1ST 1940 a bronze version of the Infantry Assault Badge was introduced for award to Officer’s, and EM/NCO’s of Motorized Infantry units. Original ย Infantry Assault Badge, Itโ€™s a typical mid-laterย  war piece, made of solid zinc. The obverse retains ALL of the original silver finish, which has some attractive age toning. . The reverse of thisย  Infantry Assault Badge also has most of original silvering, with some zinc showing through. Itโ€™s nicely maker marked โ€œ2โ€ in raised lettering beneath the pin, indicating manufacture by the firm of F.W. Assmann & Sรถhne Lรผdenscheid. The hardware setup is typical for this maker, with a crimped in hinge and catch, and a round wire pin.ย  This badge remains in very good overall GOOD condition!
