Original WWII German DRIVER’S PROFICIENCY BADGE IN SILVER Certified. A series of three Drivers Proficiency Badges in bronze, silver and gold were introduced on October 23RD 1942, with qualifications for award of the badges being retroactive to December 1ST 1940. The criteria for award of one of the badges varied with exceptional driving ability and vehicle maintenance being the main considerations. The badges were awarded to both Wehrmacht and civilian personnel who fulfilled the required criteria. When awarded the badge was worn on the lower left sleeve of the field blouse and service tunic. Stamped magnetic alloy award with a silver wash. Badge is in the form of an embossed, circular laurel leaf wreath encompassing an embossed steering wheel on a pebble background field. Complete with the two prongs. Badge is with original backing plate (see photo).
