Original WWII German Army Officer’s Derfflinger Pattern Sword By ALCOSO Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. This Derfflinger is has a cast hilt with a gilded finish. This pattern is basically the same as a Zeiten Pattern, only swapping the panther head for a plain, rounded pommel. The pommel and backstrap are decorated with circular designs. The “P” guard is flat, with more circle and a pair of oak leaves in the center. The reverse guard also has these circles, as well as a plain langet to accept a monogram. The obverse langet features Wehrmacht eagle, with good detailing throughout the bird. The ferrule has oak leaves and swirl designs. The grip is carved wood covered in nice black celluloid, tightly wrapped with a skein of aluminum wires, the center strand being twisted. The scabbard is straight throughout. The original paint has age spread throughout both sides most of the paint is all there. The lower chape is slightly scratched. The blade measures 31 inches long, with a high quality nickel plated finish. It is stamped with the ALCOSO trademark and the original brown blade washer is in place.
