Original WWII German Army (Heer)/SS PANZER ASSAULT BADGE LAPEL PIN. (Panzerkampfabzeichen Aufschlagnadel) Certified. As with most military and civilian awards of the Third Reich period miniature version lapel pins were permitted for wear on civilian clothing. Most commonly these miniatures were privately purchased items and could only be purchased by individuals with the proper ownership documentation, although some miniatures were bestowed with the full sized award. The miniatures were exact replicas of their full sized counterparts. General regulations, with a few minor exceptions, permitted wear of three miniature awards at one time but prohibited the mixing of military and civilian awards on one lapel pin. The Panzer Assault Badge in silver was instituted by Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch on December 20TH 1939 for award to all ranks of tank personnel who served as a tank commander, driver, gunner or radio operator and had been involved in three different armored assaults on three different days. The institution order indicated the criteria for award of the badge was to be effective as of January 1ST 1940. Of Note: On June 1ST 1940 a Bronze version of the Panzer Assault Badge was introduced for award to Panzer-Grenadier, medical, and armored car personnel who participated in three different armored assaults on three different days. Nice quality, die struck zinc construction, exact detailed miniature of the Panzer Assault Badge in silver. The roughly, 14.5mm tall, pin is in the form of a vertically oval, embossed, oak-leaf wreath with Wehrmacht style eagle with down-swept wings, superimposed to the top center, encompassing the cut-out forward profile of a tank. The wreath, eagle and tank all show nice detailing. The plain reverse has a soldered, vertical, rifled pin intact. .100% Guaranteed to be authentic . Complete museum documentation (COA) Provided.
