Original WWII German Army (HEER) JÄGER’S SLEEVE BADGE. (Jäger Ärmelabzeichen) Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. German Jäger Divisions were first formed in December 1940, by reorganizing Infantry Divisions into light, pursuit divisions. The Jäger Divisions were organized and equipped similar to that of the Mountain Divisions but without the specialized mountaineering equipment. On October 2ND 1942 distinctive sleeve insignia was introduced for all Jäger personnel to be worn on the upper right sleeve of the greatcoat, service and uniform tunics and the field blouse. Generally, EM/NCO personnel utilized machine embroidered or woven sleeve insignia while officers’ ranks wore higher quality, hand embroidered insignia. Of Note: Distinct cap insignia was also introduced for Jäger personnel at the same time as the sleeve insignia. Regulations dictated that both the Jäger’s sleeve and cap insignia were to be removed if the individual was transferred out of a Jäger unit. Vertically oval, green cloth base features three machine embroidered oak-leaves and a single acorn in mid-green rayon threads with off-white “veins” and a tan stem, all encompassed by an off-white, simulated, twisted rope border.  OUTSTANDING example showing the expected minor age and wear in good but used condition. Gettysburg Museum Certified (COA) provided. 100% Guaranteed to be authentic. Sold for historic purposes only. See our other pieces on our web site.
