Original U.S. WWII M3 Fighting Knife by Utica Cutlery with Rare FJA Co 1943 dated Leather Scabbard Certified. fine condition WWII production Mark 3 U.S. fighting knife, made by the desirable maker, Utica Cutlery Co., and contained in a VERY RARE original 1943 dated M6 leather Scabbard by FJA . These scabbards are rare to find in ANY condition. THE CLASSIC PARATROOPER BOOT KNIFE! Utica Cutlery Co. was one of several manufacturers of the M3 knife, and also made M1942 Bayonets, M4 bayonets, and other edged weapons during the war. Early version The later version moved the markings to the cross guard this is on the blade. The 6 5/8 inch spear point blade is in very good used condition, with a good amount of the original finish, except towards the tip, which is more worn. The blade is still quite sharp. It does not have any major issues or damage, though there has been post production sharpening, particularly on the false edge. The handle and stacked leather grip are in great shape, with a lovely color, some cracking and slight loss on one side (see photos) The scabbard is marked “FJA 1943” and is in good condition, with all components intact. It does show some wear in the leather, and the finish is missing from most of the metal components.. It has a lovely aged leather look, and is still quite soft. This is the earliest model of the original scabbard designed for this knife, which was then replaced with the Fiberglass M8/M8A1 scabbards, which were also used with the M4 bayonet. The maker Service Boots & Leggings Co. made very few scabbards during the war, making this a quite rare example.
