Original RARE German NSDAP (Nazi Party) 1933 Dietrich Eckart “Germany Awake” Martyrdom Badge By Lauer Certified. Dietrich Eckart (March 23, 1868 – December 26, 1923) was one of the founding members of the Deutsche Arbeiterpartei/German Worker’s Party), which later evolved into the NSDAP. As a journalist, playwright, and poet, he was a politician as a key influence on Adolf Hitler in the early years of the NSDAP. He participated in the Beer Hall Putsch in 1923, and died shortly after it. A 1933 Dietrich Eckart Deutschland Erwache badge; in gilded tombac; horizontal pinback; with the obverse depicting a rightward facing portrait by R. Schwegerle; maker marked “Deschler & Sohn, München” and marked “Neumarkt – birthplace of Dietrich Eckart) on the reverse; measuring 37 mm in diameter; very fine condition.
