The Berchtesgaden area was always a tourist destination first to the German and Austrian people, then the Third Reich and “fans” of Hitler. Later the fascination of “Hitler’s Mountain”. was a draw to the conquering U.S. Soldiers of the occupation of Germany.  This map (circa 1946-50) was given to U.S. troops visiting.
