Original German Hitler Youth UNIFORM JACKET HJ/DJ SERVICE SHIRT. (Diensthemd) For A Musician With Armband And Insignia Certified. he Hitler Youth may be traced back to March of 1922, with the formation of the “Jugendbund der NSDAP” (Youth-league of-the NSDAP), under control of the SA. In April of 1924 the “Jugendbund der NSDAP” was renamed “Grossdeutsche Jugendbewegung” (Greater-german Youth-movement), and in July of 1926 the “Grossdeutsche Jugendbewegung” was officially renamed “Hitlerjugend Bund der deutschen Arbeiterjugend” (Hitler-youth League of-the german Worker-youth). Prior to 1925, an assortment of uniform items were worn by “Hitler Jugend” members, mainly consisting of a white shirt and HJ armband. In an attempt to associate themselves more closely with the Nazi Party, the HJ adopted the NSDAP brown shirt in 1925. In August of 1935 the 1933 pattern HJ/DJ service shirt was replaced with a waist-length blouse, constructed of a heavier cotton twill, being more of a tunic than a shirt. Of note: The AHS, Adolf Hitler Schools were established on January 15TH 1937 by Reichsjugendfรผhrer, (National Youth Leader), Baldur von Schirach and Deutsche Arbeits Front, (German Labor Front), Reichsorganisationleiter, (National Organization Leader), Dr. Robert Ley, to provide free elitist education to select male DJ and HJ members. The first Adolf Hitler school was opened in April 1937 and originally it was envisioned that each of the forty-two German Gau’s would have its own AH school but only twelve were established by 1940 when wartime conditions halted any further expansion. The courses were originally intended to last six years but wartime conditions shortened the program to five years. On reaching the age of twelve, DJ members went through a competitive selection procedure for enrollment into a AH school with only a limited number of the most promising being chosen as students with an eye on producing future leaders for the highest Military and Political postings. On selection the DJ boys retained their standard DJ uniform and on reaching the age of fourteen the boys would become HJ members and exchange their DJ uniforms for HJ uniforms. ย Tan-colored cotton twill, long-sleeved, Button up jacket with a five button front with a lay down collar.
