Hitler’s Personal Formal Pattern Silver Large   Spoon Captured From The Eagle’s Nest By A 101st Airborne Soldier.  A silver spoon with Adolf Hitler’s personal eagle and “AH” monogram with “Greek Key” edge pattern. Used for formal lunches and dinners at The Eagle’s Nest, the Berghof, and the   Reich Chancellery. This is the pattern Hitler used for formal state dinners. This pattern was also found at the Brown House in Munich. This fork has all the proper hallmarks (see   photos) made of .800 solid silver. 8″ inches long (nice large piece). In very good condition (see photos). This piece is well documented as coming from The Eagle’s Nest (Kehlstein Monuntain) near Berchtesgarden in Germany. It was “Liberated”   by PFC Clarence L. Overman of the 506 Parachute Infantry Regiment of the   101st Airborne as a trophy of war. PFC Overman was one of the first men to make the trek up to the Eagles’s Nest on May 5th 1945. He and several other men went into the Eagle’s Nest and found a very large group of Hitler’s silver, it was divided up by the Paratroopers by “rolling dice” to “pick pieces” according to Overman’s account. He later mailed his share home. In 1947 he wrote to his former commander Colonel Robert F. Sink about the legality of taking Hitler’s silver as a war trophy and Sink could not provide a clear answer (see photo of Sink’s letter).
