In the 1950’s an organization was formed to help preserve land in Gettysburg. The Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association was the first organization dedicated to battlefield preservation and President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a founding member. In 1959 Actor and Comedian Cliff Arquette AKA “Charlie Weaver” opened a museum in Gettysburg and become the chairman of the organization. Cliff Arquette was the Grandfather of David, Roseann, and Patricia Arquette who are active in Hollywood now. This interesting artifact is a paper “deed to the battlefield you would receive when making a donation to the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association. It has a facsimile signature of Cliff Arquette. It would give you “in theory” “one square foot of battlefield”. An interesting piece of Gettysburg Battlefield preservation history.
