OUTSTANDING Original RARE COMBAT WORN WWII Waffen SS M-43 Field Cap With SKULL AND EAGLE Insignia Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. A well preserved M43 Waffen-SS service cap, constructed of captured Italian gabardine (trikot) cloth, with fold-down panels with squared scallops to the front and forward sides, covering the entire neck on the sides and rear when in use. When not in use, the panels are raised with their ends resting upon the visor, being joined together via two aluminum olive-drab painted buttons. The visor is reinforced with cardboard, and covered in matching gabardine cloth. Sewn in place in the front of the cap is a standard BeVo style SS cap trapezoid constructed of machine woven grey and green threading in the shape of a standard SS eagle with an SS Skull. It is original to the cap and is machine-sewn to the outside fabric.The BeVo patch is in remarkable condition.The interior of the cap is lined with brown cotton  that is stamped H 43 and 56 for sizing. Overall, this is an excellent well marked example of a hard to find genuine Waffen SS M43 cap that shows wear from use. Finding a truly combat worn example is very rare!  Nice used example showing the expected age and wear. 100% Guaranteed to be authentic Brought home by a U.S. solider as a trophy of war.
