Original WWII German Rail Road Eagle Removed From A Train Car By A U.S. Veteran Certified. This is in good used condition totally genuine German World War Two rail road eagle used to attach to the front of locomotives and box cars during the reign of the Third Reich. It measures 27 inches across and 13 inches tall which is generally refereed to as a 27 inch eagle and a standard size for locomotive eagles. The threaded mounting bolts marks remaining and others were broken off when removed (see photos). he reverse is marked in the center of the eagle with the compound elements which reads; GAL-Mg-CHy (Gal=Galvanized Aluminum, Mg=Magnesium, ) and as well as the early style maker mark. The U.S. Veteran who took it wrote “GERMANY 1945” on the back. The front has some rare black original paint on the swastika and red on the round part. Ones with original paint is are RARE! See photo of one with paint in a book. It also has two tabs on the back to hang it up placed by the Veteran. It does have some slight damage when he pulled off the train car (see photos). Do not get fooled by the many replicas being offered. This is a 100% Museum certified ORIGINAL Eagle that was taken off a train by a U.S. Veteran. This is a “one looker” as we say! Some wear from use otherwise in good condition with minor storage wear and some loss from being pulled off the train (see photos). Rare! .
