Original VERY NICE WWII German Army (HEER) ARTILLERY NCO/ENLISTED VISOR CAP. (Schirmmütze) Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. Standard issue visor cap with field-grey wool body and crown with a subtle whipcord weave. Cap features a blue/green badge cloth centerband and red rayon waffenfarbe to crown edge and top and bottom edges of centerband. Front center of cap has a stamped, second pattern, natural aluminum, national eagle and front center of centerband has a second pattern, stamped, alloy oak-leaf wreath encompassing a three piece, high relief, national tri-color cockade all intact. Blackened patent leather chinstrap intact one side has a slight stretch (see photo) with two, black painted, rectangular, sheet metal retaining buckles and two black painted, rectangular, length adjustment buckles. Chinstrap is secured to cap by two, small, smooth finish, black painted, magnetic sheet metal buttons. Black vulcanfibre visor with raised lip near forward edge. Interior of cap is fully lined in orangish/tan oilcloth. Celluloid sweat diamond is there. Crown lining has black ink stamped sizing beneath the sweat diamond, “58 1/2”. Interior of cap also has a wide leather sweatband. The front has a metal stiffener sewn into the cap to keep it’s sharp shape. Nice untouched cap. Nice example showing the expected minor age and wear overall good condition. In good but used condition with no mothing.
