Original WWII German Luftwaffe 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger  With Hanger  Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. This SMF dagger has all textbook fittings. The pommel is a fine aluminum example having very nice hand enhanced oak leaves that surround the swastikas on both sides.The crossguard is matching and has good pebbled pattern on the reverse with maybe 25 percent of the darkening worn from the center of the panel. The obverse features the flying eagle and it still has good detail throughout clutching a mobile swastika. The grip is a very attractive dark orange color. It is in nice condition to the eye.  The scabbard is a good SMF example having the airplane gray toning throughout. The lower portion of the scabbard pebbled area has some minor age to it but the rest of thew scabbard is in good shape still having its original gray coating. The bands are the typical aluminum SMF type with oak leaves. The throat is retained by two headless side screws. The blade of this example is still bright being a nickel plated type as SMF did.  There is  sharpening evidence on the rest of the blade (priced accordingly) . Overall the blade is good other than the sharpening  still having its needle like tip. The reverse ricasso is etched with the seated king trademark over the firm’s initials “SMF”. Above the king is a waffenamt consisting of a stickbird with the number 5 in his belly. The original pebbled leather washer is in place deep within the crossguard recesses. The guard has the original owner’s initials engraved “E.K.” Has it’s original set of hangers in good condition. All in all a good SMF dagger that has been sharpened  and priced accordingly.  A nice looking 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger, and one that definitely saw period wear but is still in good condition. Nice period used dagger   captured by a U.S. Veteran   and brought home as a war trophy. Nice used example showing the expected age and wear. 100% Guaranteed to be authentic Brought home by a solider as a trophy of war. A very desirable dagger in good condition an outstanding   example.
