Original German NSDAP (NAZI PARTY) DAF MEMBER’S SPORTS SHIRT INSIGNIA. (DAF Sportabzeichen)  Certified. With the dissolution of all Free Trade Unions in Germany in May 1933 the Deutsche Arbeitsfront, (German Labour Front), was established to replace the unions and to educate the workers in industry and commerce for smooth and efficient operation of all labor in the Third Reich. In October 1934 the DAF was given official status as a sub-section of the NSDAP and in March 1936 it was recognized as an independent NSDAP affiliated association and granted control of its own monetary budget.  The DAF sports officials insignia was worn by officials on the left breast of their sports attire. It is shield-shaped and measures approximately 82x100mm. The shield is red with a black and white DAF emblem and, if used, a black inscription in Gothic letters. Officials without a specific function used an insignia without an inscription. Insignia for sports administrators featured the inscription “Sportamt”, those for practice coaches featured “Übungswart”, and those for ski instructors featured “Skiwart”  Nice example issued with expected storage wear.   Gettysburg Museum Certified (COA) provided.
