Excellent assemblage of signatures of future Nuremberg War Crimes Trials defendants, obtained when they were first interned at ‘Ashcan’, formally known as the Central Continental Prisoner of War Enclosure No. 32 and code-named ‘Ashcan’. The facility was an Allied prisoner-of-war camp in the Palace Hotel of Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg and operating from May to August, 1945. It served as a processing station and interrogation center for the 86 most prominent surviving Nazi leaders prior to their trials in Nuremberg, including Hermann Goring and Karl Donitz. Sold with a 3 x 5 in. snapshot of five prisoners relaxing outdoors behind barbed wire, one possibly Hermann Goring. Covers of book detached from contents, which are fine.
