In most case “cutoffs” were taken from dead German soldiers as a WAR TROPHY. Cutting off eagles and other insignia was a U.S. Combat soldier’s trophy like a Native American’s scalping it showed your were there and you killed an enemy combatant. We decided to let a few go to make room for more! The Gettysburg Museum of History does not support or condone Adolf Hitler or the Nazi Party and is only offering this as a historic relic.
