VERY RARE Original German NSDAP (NAZI PARTY) National Hunting Association Cutlass (Dagger) Brought Home By A U.S. Soldier Certified.ย ย Forestry and hunting in Germany enjoys a long, illustrious history and tradition that continues to the present day. On July 8TH 1933 Hermann Gรถring was appointed as Reichsforst und Jรคgermeister, (National Forestry and Hunting Master), as head of the, Reichsforstamt, (National Forestry Department), in charge of administration of all aspects of forestry and hunting including the development, maintenance and conservation of all the forests and wild game within Germany. The Reichsforstamt was sub-divided into four main departments of; Gemeinde Forst Dienst, (General Forestry Service), Privat Forst Dienst, (Private Forestry Service), Heeres Forst Dienst, (Army Forestry Service), and the Luftwaffe Forst Dienst, (Air-force Forestry Service). (Deutsche Jรคgerschaft ร„rmelabzeichen). This cutlass is in beautiful condition throughout. The mounts are all in a silver plating. The pommel has the umbrella-like top with a acorn device threaded at the center acting as a tang nut. The lower portion of the cap has twin lines. The ferrule matches the cap having two sets of twin lines. The crossguard features two qullions both in the form of deer’s legs. The legs have been hand enhanced to the animal’s fur prior to the hoof. The left quillon goes slightly upward and the right quillon slightly downward. Below the crossguard is a very fine clamshell. The stag grip is a real beauty being curved slightly to the left as it rises upward. It has outstanding colors of coffee browns and tans and top of the grains are all a golden tone. In the center is affixed a Nation Hunting Association insignia and in between are the rays with a swastika in the center. On either side of the stag’s head are the initials of the organization “DJ”. The scabbard is in absolute perfect condition. It is a very finer brighter green color showing only just the slightest of usage. It features a very nice grain and twin lines which decorate the edges of both sides. The scabbard is equipped with matching silvered mounts. The mounts have scalloped edges. The lower mount has two sets of twin decorative lines and both mounts are retained by staples. The lug is in the form of a very highly defined acorn.ย  At . The blade is a fantastic example being triple etched and remaining in almost mint condition. The obverse etch has a center panel featuring a hound dog smelling out two foxes that are rustling around a fallen tree. The design is flanked by floral patches and above at the end are two game birds in some weeds. The reverse blade features four deer running through a forest glen, the deer at the end is a stag with a short rack. The scene is flanked by two trees and has 100 percent of its frosting.
