Original German NSDAP (NAZI PARTY) SA (Brown Shirts) Ground Rohm Dagger by Rare Maker Gustav Felix Solingen Certified

SOLD

Original German NSDAP (NAZI PARTY) SA (Brown Shirts) Ground Rohm Dagger by Rare Maker Gustav Felix Solingen with Scabbard Certified. An early pattern SA Dagger, made by the very rare firm of Gustav Felix Solingen. It comes compete with an original scabbard. The dagger has solid nickel silver fittings throughout. The crossguards and tang nut are in very fair condition throughout with all fittings having an aged patina. There is some age to these mounts no lifting anywhere, showing that they are solid and not plated. They show wear with almost some denting and scratches. The lower reverse guard is good/ The grip has a lovely dark reddish-brown color, with medium center ridge construction, with lots of wear and a few small dents and cracks. This grip is in fair condition and fits the crossguards nicely, though there are cracks on both sides of the grip near the pommel fitting. There is no movement in the guards or grips, the pommel nut worn. The SA symbol button is off center and might have been reset, and still has most of the enamel intact, with the nickel plating intact. The grip eagle is a fine example being the style with beak that points straight. It has just a bit of verdigris on it, showing that it is solid nickel alloy, though it has some slight oxidation. The details are still there to the eagle to include the beak, breast feathering, wing feathering, talons, wreath and mobile swas (hook cross). This fine example was produced by very rare maker, and rear of the dagger is marked with the company’s oval name and address marking partially ground off when the blade was ground. The blade is in fair condition, with some oxidation, and wear from the runners. The blade has correctly not been sharpened post manufacture, though it is actually relatively sharp, apparently from the factory. The acid-etched Alles fรผr Deutschland (Everything for Germany) SA motto is crisp. The tip is clipped and reshaped. The reverse of the blade has evidence of removal of the Ernst Rohm dedication being removed, making this a HISTORIC GROUND ROHM DAGGER! When Ernst Rohm was executed after the โ€œNight Of The Long Knivesโ€ his presentation daggers were ordered to have his name removed. They had their presentation either ground off with a wire wheel or a file! This one has grind marks, but it was polished to make it look nicer by the original S.A. owner. The scabbard shell is straight throughout and is the early-war style, which has a brown “anodized” finish on the steel, which was then lacquered. It still retains much of the original finish, though the lacquer and paint has flaked off in many places, which has allowed the brown finish to fade somewhat.

The upper and lower fittings are solid nickel silver, with a great look and just some light wear. The chape has dents at the end. The throat nicely matches the crossguards, and all fittings have their original dome headed screws, which do not show any signs of turning.ย  ย A fair condition early war SA Ground Rohm dagger from a very rare maker, complete with scabbard.
